What to Expect When Setting Up Your Surgical Consultation with Dr. Chelsea Obourn at Lakeside Cosmetic Center

Erin Scholl

Scheduling a surgical consultation with Dr. Obourn at Lakeside Cosmetic Center is the first step toward achieving your aesthetic goals. Here’s a detailed look at what to expect during the process:

Step 1: Schedule Discovery Call with the Surgical Patient Coordinator

When you inquire about scheduling a surgical consultation or have questions regarding a face or neck surgical procedure, you’ll first be set up with a discovery call with Erin Scholl, our Surgical Patient Coordinator.

During this call, Erin will take time to get to know you and your goals. She may ask questions such as what areas you’re looking to improve, what results you’re hoping to achieve, whether you’ve had any prior cosmetic treatments or surgeries, and if you have any upcoming events or milestones you’re preparing for. In addition to learning about your goals, Erin will also answer basic questions about the procedure, such as how long the surgery takes, where it will take place, and how long you may need to take off work. She’ll provide a rough estimate for the procedure cost to make sure you’re setting up the consultation that aligns with your needs and timeline.

Once all preliminary details are covered, Erin will assist in scheduling your in-person consultation with Dr. Obourn. Our surgical consultation fee is $150, which is required at the time of scheduling.

Step 2: Preparing for Your Consultation

We recommend that patients arrive 10 minutes early for their appointment to allow time to fill out necessary paperwork. To help us provide the best care, we also ask that you bring a list of all medications, including herbal supplements and vitamins, and prepare a list of questions you’d like to ask Dr. Obourn about the procedure. These details help ensure we have a complete picture of your health and goals before the consultation begins.

Step 3: The Consultation Process

Once paperwork is completed, Erin will meet with you briefly to review your goals for surgery and take some pre-consultation photos. Following this, Dr. Obourn will join the consultation to listen to your goals and concerns, assess your anatomy, overall health, and expectations, and make recommendations that best suit your needs. These recommendations may include additional procedures to amplify results, alternative treatments altogether, or even recommendations against surgery if it’s not the right fit for you. Our primary focus is providing treatments that align with your goals while prioritizing your health and safety.

To ensure optimal results, we may also discuss skincare regimens to help prep your skin before surgery. Dr. Obourn will review what to expect during surgery, pre- and post-operative care instructions, potential risks associated with the procedure, and answers to any and all of your questions. This comprehensive approach helps set clear expectations and ensures you feel prepared for every step of the process.

Step 4: Surgery Estimates and Fees

After meeting with Dr. Obourn, Erin will provide an estimate for the surgery. This estimate includes Dr. Obourn’s surgical fee, facility fees, and anesthesia fees. The facility and anesthesia fees are good-faith estimates based on the fee schedule provided by the surgical facility and quoted for the average length of the procedure recommended by Dr. Obourn.

In addition to the estimate, Erin will provide a packet of information covering what was reviewed during the consultation. This packet will include the written estimate, pre- and post-operative instructions, and the surgical financial policy. It will also outline the next steps in the process. As we understand this is a lot of information to take in, we encourage you to take time to review the materials to make the best decision for you on moving forward. Before you leave, Erin will schedule a follow-up phone call to answer any additional questions and provide further clarity if needed.

Step 5: Scheduling Your Surgery

When you are ready to move forward, the next step is to call Erin and let her know your decision. A $750 non-refundable deposit is required to schedule surgery. Once that payment is made, Erin will have Barb, our Surgery Coordinator, reach out to schedule your pre-op, surgery, and post-op appointments.
